Hannah Gadsby: Douglas
About two years ago I watched Nanette, Hannah Gadsby’s breakthrough “comedy” special. Gadsby was diagnosed with autism as an adult, shortly before Nanette was filmed. It was really good, and if you haven’t seen it, you should definitely check it out. It’s not required – as she mentions herself during the introduction – to enjoy the new special, and I like the new one even better, but the two are a bit different and I’d definitely recommend experiencing Nanette yourself.
Last week I lamented about the difficulties in “enjoying” Louis C.K.’s latest comedy special. Turns out, there is a pretty simple solution if you don’t want to deal with that – watch something else. So I did. And it was great. No moments that felt a bit too far, or weird. Just a whole lot of funny moments and laughter. It’s worth watching just for the bit where she explains the name, Douglas. And it even has a Louis C.K. joke!
